WAYNE – The last of three candidate interviews for the junior high school principal and athletic director position at Wayne Community Schools took place Monday evening.

Mr. Dave Wragge, a current teacher and coach at Wayne Community Schools shared his vision for the role to community members and parents in the commons area of the Wayne Jr/Sr high school.

Wragge is from Plainview and studied at Doane University in Crete for his undergraduate degree in elementary and middle school education with and emphasis in social studies and language arts. While attending Wragge played football for all four years.

After graduating, he started his first master’s degree in May of 2011 studying curriculum instruction.

His first teaching job was in Grant where he taught junior high English and coached wrestling and track.

When Wragge first came to Wayne Community Schools, he taught fifth grade science and language arts for four years. For the last four years he’s been teaching junior high science.

Since working in Wayne, Wragge has coached junior high wresting, varsity wrestling, junior high football, and varsity football, as well as being the summer weight room coordinator for the last two years.

Community members attending met with Wragge after Mrs. Wendy Consoli, board of education president, asked him the same set of questions given to the candidates before him.

Those attending the forum were given a ‘community forum feedback form’ and asked to return it or email it to Dr. Lenihan at malenih1@bluedevils.org.

Dr. Mark Lenihan, Wayne Community Schools superintendent said the school board will have a recommendation for which candidate to hire by their February 25 meeting. The school hopes to act on that recommendation and offer the role to their desired candidate by the next day, Lenihan said.
