Cruise Night To Feature Car Show, Music & Dancing At Lions Club Park

LAUREL – All are invited to a week-night car show and cruise night event in a northeast Nebraska community.

According to a release from Laurel Economic Development, Laurel’s Cruise Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 12.

Economic Development Coordinator, Christine Rasmussen said after taking a year off it’ll be great to see all the in town and out of town vehicles.

“In the past it’s been on downtown second street for Laurel,” said Rasmussen. “But this year with the DTR going on we don’t have a lot of streets for them to park on right now. So, we’re having it up at the Lions Club Park by the pool.”

Laurel’s Lions Club Park is located next to the high school at 502 Wakefield Street as an area will be blocked off for cars setting up for the car show. The event is also sponsored by the Laurel Chamber Community Club.

The car show will last from 5 – 7:30 p.m. with vehicles participating in the cruise night around town at 7:30 p.m. For vendors that contact the Laurel Economic Development office there will be a place for you to set-up.

Rasmussen added Laurel Cruise Night is a lot of fun.

“A lot of people come down and it’s a great way to just catch up and visit,” Rasmussen added. “The cars that have come there’s some from people that are here in town, there’s a lot of them that come from out of town and they’re all eager to share their stories on their cars. They’ve got some pretty cool wheels out there.”

Throughout the evening at the Lions Club Park, Casey Rossiter will provide live music from 5:30 – 9 p.m. and Laurel EMS will put on a burger feed between 6 – 8 p.m.

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bear Squad performance of ‘Walk this Way’ is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Local company solo dancers will then follow at 6:35 p.m. by Rylen Christiansen ‘Splish Splash’, Brook Hansen ‘Conga’, Maya Brummels ‘That’s my girl’, Tenlie Christiansen ‘Move it like this’ and Lola McKamy ‘Tik Tik Boom’.

Free swimming will also be offered at the Laurel Pool from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
