WAYNE – As the third Friday of the month is here, it’s time to gather the family as all vehicles are welcome to parade around down during Cruise Main in Wayne.
The Friday, August 20 event will mark the fourth Cruise Main in Wayne evening from 7 – 9 p.m. for families to enjoy the night out as any street legal cars, motorcycles, bikes, trucks or semis are welcome to join in on the fun times.
Dustin Soden is the owner at Tint Specialties & Specialty Rides and organizes Cruise Main in Wayne. Soden said the summer cruises have been great.
“Our July 2021 was probably our best turnout ever as far as cars and spectators along main street,” said Soden. “Had four food trucks and just a lot of people out that night. Probably our best cruise night to date since we’ve started in four years, so really happy with the turnout.”
The August Cruise Main in Wayne event will offer Tacos & More in the Our Savior Lutheran Church parking lot and Fire & Ice in the Tint Specialties parking lot.
“Otherwise, there will just be normal cruise from 7 – 9 p.m.,” Soden added. “There is some other events going on around the area. We hope that people come out and support Cruise Main in Wayne and we can still have a good turnout.”
Over the past couple months Soden has been in contact with Wayne Area Economic Development and the City of Wayne to host a burnout box/competition. That event was recently approved for the Friday, September 17 date.
Soden mentioned he’s been in working with WAED to plan other new events during future Cruise Main in Wayne outings.
“The burnout box/competition is kind of going to be our first major event here to see how that goes,” Soden mentioned. “We’ve gotten a lot of response both through Facebook and phone calls and traffic with people kind of knowing about it since we were working on it with the council. Pretty excited to see that happen and see what kind of turnout we have.”
More details will be posted on the Cruise Main in Wayne Facebook page for rules and regulations. The September, 17 Friday Cruise Main in Wayne will start an hour earlier at 6 p.m. at the old Reilly’s parking that is owned by the City of Wayne just off of Main Street with the goal of seeing how much tire smoke you can produce in 60 seconds.
Soden has appreciated everybody’s support from the drivers and communities keeping Cruise Main in Wayne going.
