Creighton’s Berry Pepper Days Happening This Weekend

CREIGHTON – Berry Pepper Day’s will be happening this weekend with a full slate of fun activities scheduled for the town’s celebrations. Some of Friday’s events include free swimming from noon until 7 p.m., a road rally from 5:30-7 p.m., and a cornhole tournament on Main Street following the road rally. The road rally will start on North Clark Avenue by the cemetery. Register for the cornhole tournament no later than 7:30 by contacting Trisha Moser at 402-394-1214. Cost is $20 per team.

Saturday’s activities will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K/10K run/walk starting at the Creighton Public Library. There will be a Texas Softball Tournament in memory of Doug Hornback held at the Jim Thompson softball field starting at 8 a.m. St. Ludger Parish Hall will host a vendor fair from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The 2nd Annual Janet Frank Quilts & Embroidery Barn Quilt Road Rally is set to run anytime between 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. The Kiddie Parade will be at 10 a.m. Faith United Church will sponsor lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The Jr/Sr Legion Baseball Tournament will begin at 11 a.m. Kids can participate in the pedal pull starting at 2 p.m. at the bank parking lot. The St. Louis Style Ribfest and Bean Contest will be serving from 5-7 p.m. at Bruce Park. Saturday’s events will conclude with a street dance on Main Street with music by Prairie Thunder Band from 9 p.m. -1 a.m. Cost is $10.

Sunday will begin with a Berry Pepper Pancake Breakfast from 8-10 a.m. at the High School Multipurpose Room. The American Legion chicken feed will follow at St. Ludger’s Social Hall from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The Jr/Sr Legion Baseball Tournament will continue throughout Sunday. The Grand Parade is scheduled for 2 p.m. After the parade there will be turtle races at the tennis court in Bruce Park along with a BBQ as well. A pool party will be held from 4-6 p.m. with free swimming, games and food.

Community wide garage sales will be happening throughout Friday and Saturday and the Historical Center in Creighton will be open from 8 a.m.-4:30 on Friday and Saturday as well. Be sure to pick up a Berry Pepper and one of the participating businesses.
