County Supervisor Doug Stunkel Turns Himself in Following Bench Warrant

CUSTER COUNTY–A Custer County Supervisor has turned himself in to authorities after a bench warrant had been issued against District 7 Supervisor Doug Stunkel.

Stunkel, 66, of Ansley had previously failed to appear in Custer County Court for multiple traffic violations and following court on August 12, Judge Jeffery Wightman issued the bench warrant for failure to appear and ordered that bond be set at 10% of $1,000. (Click here for the August 12 story.)

Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond told KCNI/KBBN that Stunkel turned himself in during the evening hours of Friday, August 16. Sheriff Osmond said Stunkel bonded out the same night.

Doug Stunkel is currently scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 7, according to Custer County Court staff.
