Counterfeit Check Cashing Scam Reported By Wayne Business

WAYNE – Officials with the Wayne Police Department are requesting the business community to be aware of a bad check.

According to a message from Wayne Area Economic Development, a counterfeit check cashing scam has been reported in the Wayne community.

The Wayne Police Department has taken a report of counterfeit checks being passed at a Wayne business that does payroll check cashing. As of Monday, this was the only instance that they’re aware of.

The company, address and phone number on the checks presented are not legitimate. While the routing number on the check is associated with JP Morgan Chase Bank, the account numbers are not real from Rock Roofing Company out of Grand Island, Nebraska.
