WAYNE – With a mini retreat scheduled for the final Tuesday of November, the regularly scheduled Wayne City Council meeting will take place Tuesday evening.
From the council chambers inside City Hall, the November 15 meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Fire Chief, Phil Monahan will approach the board with a Wayne Volunteer Fire Department application for membership of Aiden Dowling.
Council will then look to authorize the City Administrator to temporarily pay out Police Dispatchers’ vacation leave in the amount over the accrual limit at current wage rates. Under the current City of Wayne Policy, employees that have accumulated 280 hours of unused vacation leave can no longer accrue additional vacation leave until they use some.
A recommendation will be in front of council to temporarily pay out the vacation time the police dispatchers are unable to use each pay period until they have staff in place to allow vacation leave when requested.
Mytzy Rodriguez-Kufner will provide a Housing Development in Wayne report followed by a public hearing.
The public hearing will highlight an application for Community Development Block Grant – Public Works Funds and amend the budget. During a previous public hearing, it was noted that the City of Wayne would provide a minimum of $135,333 in matching funds for a total project cost of $568,333. The amendment will now say the City will provide a minimum of $475,000 for a total project cost of $908,000.
Several resolutions will then seek approval.
A trio of resolutions would deal with the CDBG Public Works Grant. Others include approving a letter agreement amendment #2 with Olsson regarding the Lincoln Street project seeking an additional $10,000 while also approving the specifications and authorizing the purchase of a 2023 ¾ ton regular cab Ford F250 pickup through the state bid system as per the bid proposal from Arnie’s Ford.
Before adjourning the meeting, council members will provide an update on discussion with Wayne Community Schools on the future of the Community Activity Center land. The board will also discuss and have an update on the proposed acquisition of land owned by First Methodist Church of Wayne (parking lot north of Ameritas building) as well as discuss and take possible action on authorizing staff to negotiate the purchase of property from Ameritas Life Insurance Corporation.
