Council To Hear Updates, Award Bids Tuesday Night

WAYNE – A couple updates will be provided to Wayne City Council during their regularly scheduled meeting this evening.

From the Community Room of the Wayne Community Activity Center, the meeting will get underway at 5:30 p.m.

Rusty Parker will provide an update on the Wayne Country Club Clubhouse addition and remodel project. Travis Meyer and Scott Hammer will also bring forward more information about the MayDay STOL Event (airplane drag races) taking place at the Wayne Municipal Airport between April 28 – May 1.

An action item is being requested for a special designated liquor permit for The Jug during the event at the airport located at 2304 East Hwy 35.

Earlier this month, city staff were asked to begin advertising for the “Old City of Wayne Lagoon Berm (Northwest Corner) Project – Phase I”. Four bids were submitted on March 10 as the low bidder of Milo Meyer Construction is being recommended. Work would begin on June 1 unless there is an opportunity to do the project sooner.

Four bids were also received on March 10 for the “Greenwood Cemetery – West Driveway Project”. The low bidder was TR Harris Construction, Inc. as council will look to accept this bid Tuesday night. Two of the four bids did not meet the City of Wayne’s specifications.

Councilmembers will be looking to set their “min-retreat” for March 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wayne Fire Hall. The group will close the meeting by going over topics regarding their next council “mini-retreat”.
