Council Agenda To Showcase Numerous Appointments

WAYNE – A series of appointments will be made during the regularly scheduled Wayne City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 15 starting at 5:30 p.m.

From the Wayne Community Activity Center Community Room, council will first hear a presentation from Cap Peterson. Cap with the Northeast Nebraska Insurance Agency, will address the 2021 Property & Casualty Insurance package along with seeking approval.

Several action items will follow pertaining to appointment Marlon Brink to the Library Board and listing appointments for City Clerk, Finance Director, Street and Planning Director, Police Chief, Park and Recreation Director, Senior Citizens Coordinator, Library Director, Electric Production Superintendent, Electric Distribution Superintendent and Water/Wastewater Superintendent. The wage and salary schedule that’ll be brought forward at the meeting includes a 2% cost of living increase that was approved in the budget. This would be effective with the first payroll period in January 2021.

Mayor Cale Giese will also appoint two at-large community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) members.

Council will then take action to certify the 2020 appointment of Joel Hansen as the City Street Superintendent for the purpose of the 2020 calendar year and then appoint Hanson for January 1 through December 31, 2021. This would be for the 2021 calendar year Highway Incentive payment to be issued to the City of Nebraska Department of Transportation, in February 2021 and 2022.

Action on change order No. 1 on the “City of Wayne Lagoon Berm Concrete Removal Project” will also be brought forward later in the meeting. When the City of Wayne bid out the concrete removal on the lagoon berm, they didn’t include the aeration pit. More information will be discussed Tuesday evening.
