GRAND ISLAND – A series of virtual online sessions will be held each morning this week by Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith.
According to a release from the office of Congressman Smith (R-NE), those interested in attending the Virtual Agriculture Summit must pre-register for each session individually. Visit http://adriansmith.house.gov/AgSummit2020 to do so.
The Tuesday, August 18 session will feature Rural Housing & Rural Development from 7:30 – 8:15 a.m. Special guests will include Tim Kenny, Nebraska Investment Finance Authority and Krista Mettscher, USDA Rural Development.
Wednesday’s session will showcase USDA Programs & Ag Producers from 7:30 – 8:15 a.m. with Richard Fordyce, Director of USDA Farm Service Agency and Greg Ibach, USDA Under Secretary for Marketing & Regulatory Programs.
Rural Broadband will be Thursday’s focus from 7:30 – 8:15 a.m. State Senator Curt Friesen, and Zach Hunnicut, Nebraska Broadband Task Force Member will be the special guests.
A Trade Opportunities session will close out the week on Friday, August 21 from 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. with a special guest being Ambassador Greg Doud, Chief Agricultural Negotiator with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
The Virtual Agriculture Summit provides Third District constituents an opportunity to hear from Smith and his special guests on the future of agriculture and rural development policy.
