CONCORD – Firefighters from Wayne, Dixon and Cedar Counties were called to the scene of what was initially reported as a combine fire late Wednesday afternoon.
Heavy winds and dense smoke prompted temporary closure of Highway 15 between Wayne and Laurel and Highway 116 from Highway 20 to Highway 15.
As of 8:00pm Wednesday evening, roads were once again open and only Cedar County fire units were on scene. However, radio scanner reports indicate Wayne Firemen were called back to assist Concord firemen with another field blaze near a residence in the same area.
Note: This is a developing story. NCN and NE Department of Transportation also contributed to this report.
