Concord Cemetery Holding Memorial Day Service Sunday May 24, Video Now Posted

WAYNE – The Concord Cemetery will put on a Memorial Day service on Sunday May 24 at 2 p.m. They do request that people follow the social distancing guidelines while honoring those who sacrificed their lives for our country.

Monica Ebmeier is the president of the Concord Cemetery board. She has held that position for almost 20 years. She gives direction to help people find the location of the service.

“That’ll be out at the cemetery, it’s located northeast of town from Concord,” Ebmeier explained. “We’ll meet at the top of the hill by the original gate.”

There are many different events the cemetery will put on to honor veterans. Ebmeier talks about what events the service may entail.

“Usually the men from the Laurel Vet’s Post come and they do the roster of veterans,” she said. “We have taps, and we may be having the 21-gun salute.”

In addition to following the social distancing guidelines, Ebmeier mentioned another option for people that attend the service.

“Of course, we’ll be outside and if they want to stay in their cars, and just observe from their cars, that’s fine too,” Ebmeier stated.

For the people that cannot make it to the service on Sunday, there will be a video put out sometime after the service that day. The video will include footage from the cemetery, two minister’s prayers and scripture, and an organist. Veteran representative, Roy Stohler, will be in both the video and at the service. Ebmeier comments on how the video will be done.

“My daughter, Rachel, is putting the video together, and it is an amateur video it’s not professionally made,” she said. “She’ll be guided or mentored by her older brother (Daniel). He is a Digital Cinema major.”

Daniel just graduated with a bachelor’s degree in that field. Rachel, 15, is using the video for a Dixon County 4-H project. Rachel is considering entering the video into the citizenship category or the film fest at the state level.

The video link will be added to this article when it’s completed. It can also be found at Monica’s personal Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/monica.ebmeier
