WAYNE – A special meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 24 pertaining to a budget and final tax rate hearing for the Wayne County Board of Commissioners.
From the Public Safety Annex meeting room, commissioners will open the meeting at 9 a.m. before recessing for their budget hearing.
A presentation of the county budget will consist of the total budget being $25,193,540.90.
The total tax dollar request is $5,170,929.91, which is an increase of $159,416.54 while the unused budget authority is $1,046,040.34.
Commissioners will then receive taxpayer support, opposition or comments on the proposed Wayne County Budget before closing the hearing.
Moving into the Final Tax Rate hearing at 9:20 a.m., another presentation of the budget will be addressed. The total valuation of Wayne County is $1,975,576,558; which is an increase of $34,064,372.
The 2021-22 tax rate is being recommended at 0.261743; which is an increase of 0.008857 per $100 of valuation.
Commissioners will again receive taxpayer support, opposition or comments on the proposed Wayne County Budget before closing the hearing and reconvening in their special meeting.
Other action items on the Wayne County Board of Commissioners agenda include the increase of restricted funds by 1% (these funds will be carried forward as unused budget authority); adopt the 2021-22 budget and adopt the 2021-22 tax dollar request.
