Commissioners To Go Over Budget, Hear Update On Federal Disaster Declaration

WAYNE – Wayne County Commissioners have been working on their 2018-19 budget recently and will look to take action following a public hearing Tuesday morning during a regularly scheduled meeting.

From the Courthouse meeting room, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. and start with a follow-up on past discussion with Ray and Jody Kingsley.

Wayne County Emergency Manager, Nic Kemnitz will provide an update on the Federal Disaster Declaration as well as have a request for assistance during the Missouri River Outdoor Expo.

Around 9:40 a.m., Kimberly Dickey with NextEra Energy will be present. The board will need to authorize the signing of Nebraska DOT forms for Aeronautics stating Wayne County doesn’t have county zoning regulations.

A scheduled public hearing will start at 9:45 a.m. to receive taxpayer support, opposition or comments on the proposed 2018-19 Wayne County budget. Another public hearing will follow at 10 a.m. on setting the final tax request at a different amount than last year at an increase, total valuation of Wayne County will decrease and the 2018-19 levy will increase .0118 cents per 100 dollars of valuation.

Commissioners will then look to approve the budget and tax dollar request.
