WAYNE – Staff at Wayne Area Economic Development are inviting community members to come and enjoy an after hours event on Friday, October 19.
A Wine Social is scheduled to be hosted by Aventure Staffing at 1022 Main Street, formerly known as the off-campus bookstore. The event will last form 5 – 7 p.m.
Abby Schademann is the Marketing, Events and Tourism Coordinator with WAED. She talked about the social.
“An opportunity to network with each other outside the regular day-to-day grind from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” said Schademann. “So, just giving them an opportunity to unwind and meet with other business members.”
Door prizes will also be awarded with cost per drink tickets being $4, but no charge to attend.
Refreshments will be provided by Johnnie Byrd Brewing Company. Nebraska wine and two different types of beer will also be on hand.
The Special Events Committee, a sub-committee with WAED, plans for two Wine Social events a year. A Spring Wine Social was hosted by Swans Apparel earlier this year.
“If you’re interested in helping out you can at least talk to any of the committee members or you can chat with me,” Schademann added. “If you’re interested in joining the committee we can get you on the email list and just come on down and share your ideas with us.”
The group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. from the White Dog.
Special Events Committee members will also plan the annual Community Celebration and assist with any other events going on.
