CMS’s Suessical Brings Fun and Good Music to Nantkes

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Middle School’s rendition of Suessical is bringing loads of fun and good music to the Nantkes Performing Arts Center.

CMS Choir Instructor and Suessical Director Celeste Ditter says they are performing Suessical Junior, which runs about half as long as the 3 hour full production, but keeps all of the fun and catchiness from the original. Ditter says the musical will be better than some people may be expecting.

“I was skeptical myself, and 5 years ago I saw it for the first time, and I fell in love. The characters are so endearing, and the songs are just like ear worms that get stuck in your head. The magic of the show is worth every moment,” says Ditter.

Carter Braun is performing as Horton the Elephant in the upcoming show, and says initially he didn’t think he would enjoy the musical, but said he’s glad he had a parent who made him go into the musical with an open mind.

“For choir we did part of the songs, and I absolutely hated it, and you know my mom kind of forced me into doing this, and I ended up liking it,” says Braun.

The set for the musical was built by CMS students, and embodies the environment Dr. Suess fans have come to know and love.

The musical will be performed on both Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
