UPDATE: Students Injured in Semi and Bus Collision

OSMOND, NE — Three students are in the hospital after a school bus and semi-trailer collision Tuesday afternoon.

Osmond Rescue received a call of a semi-trailer rear-ending a school bus around 3:00 on Highway 20 two miles east of Osmond.  The Nebraska State Patrol says the bus was carrying 25 students from Boyd County Schools and one driver at the time of the crash.

Troopers say the bus had its flashing lights activated and was crossing railroad tracks when it was struck from behind by a semi-tractor trailer.

Three students were transported to Osmond General Hospital.  One student was then transferred to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha via LifeNet helicopter.  None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the semi, 62-year-old Allen Lambrecht of Beemer, and the bus driver, 60-year-old Larry Eilers of Lynch, were not injured.  The crash remains under investigation.
