Chicken Show T-Shirts On Sale, Volunteer Groups Being Requested For July 9 – 11 Event

WAYNE – With the 41st annual Wayne Chicken Show now less than two months away, there’s plenty to prepare for with the upcoming busy summer events.

T-shirts have been available for purchase as of a late April release from Wayne Area Economic Development who unveiled the 2021 product.

This year’s theme is ‘Wayne America’s Chicken Vacation’ and encourages visitors to enjoy America’s Favorite Family Fun Festival.

The shirt was inspired by a design submitted by Nicky Zara and then finalized by Stadium Sports. Shirts are on sale and available for purchase at the WAED office (108 West 3rd Street) and are $18 for regular sizes and $20 for extended sizes.

Normally, the Wayne Chicken Show meets on the second Monday of each month but in May they’ll meet in the back room of the Max at 5:30 p.m. next Monday, May 17, according to Marketing, Events and Tourism Coordinator with WAED, Abby Schademann

“Currently we’re working on advertising,” said Schademann. “We’re working on getting our bands solidified as well as getting our kid’s activities taken care of.”

Businesses should be on the look-out for sponsorship information while volunteers are also welcome.

“If you are interested in having a booth or maybe participating in the chicken show with your organization in anyway,” Schademann added. “Please let us know, we’ll help get you part of our brochure, we’ll help get you set up if need be.”

The Wayne Chicken Show is held annually on the second weekend in July and the 2021 Wayne Chicken Show will be held July 9 – 11. Founded by the Wayne Regional Arts Council, the Wayne Chicken Show was first held in 1981.

The 40th Wayne Chicken Show shirts (2020 event) are also available at Wayne Area Economic Development for $15 each.

Contact the WAED office at 402-375-2240 if you’re interested in volunteering prior, during or after the Wayne Chicken Show. Also, like Wayne, NE on Facebook for more information.
