ChamberPercs Guest Was Senator Joni Albrecht, Chamber Coffee Follows Social Distancing Guidelines

WAYNE – ChamberPercs closed out the final Friday morning chamber coffee in the month of March this past weekend as District 17 Senator Joni Albrecht joined Luke Virgil.

The Facebook Live video was showcased on the Wayne, NE Facebook page on Friday, March 27 where Wayne Area Economic Development executive director, Luke Virgil updated viewers.

ChamberPercs is the social distancing version of Chamber Coffee and is a weekly reminder of community gathering and sharing other news.

Last Friday was also supposed to be the annual Legislative Forum as Senator Albrecht talked about what the Coronavirus Fund is for.

“To take care of our hospitals, our first responders, our law enforcement needs to make sure that they need to be masked and ready,” said senator Albrecht. “The only way this can happen is, of course, the emergency managers working alongside the department of health.”

Governor Pete Ricketts provides his COVID-19 response updates weekdays at 2 p.m. These updates can be heard live on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailynews.com or later in the day by visiting the ‘Podcasts’ tab under the ‘Community’ drop-down on waynedailynews.com.

Senator Albrecht stated last Friday that the legislature could return to session after the Easter break but could be extended with the latest presidential guidelines being extended through the end of April. Contact the office of senator Albrecht at 402-471-2716 or email jalbrecht@leg.ne.gov.

Virgil also shared there are two locations in Wayne offering wi-fi in parking lots.

“BNT Companies, they’re a new broadband provider here in the area,” Virgil added. “They’re providing free wireless access points. The first one is at the 4th Jug if you’re in the parking lot on the east side of the building towards the package liquor store. Or, if you’re downtown Carhart Lumber parking lot; they’ve got the big area.”

The network name to search is ‘#Wayne Strong’.

Also, in a release from Wayne Community Schools, the district is working on providing internet for families who do not have it already. American Broadband is offering a special rate of $20 per month for non-customers but routers would be needed. For those who have extra routers, contact the school at 402-375-3150 (Family Resource Line). The school is also working with AT&T with a my-fi hotspot for those in rural areas.

Viewers were encouraged to take a selfie with their favorite coffee mug and post #ChamberPercs to the Wayne, NE Facebook page to enter into a drawing for a prize. The winner will be announced during the Facebook live post this Friday.

ChamberPercs will return to the Wayne, NE Facebook page on Friday, April 3 at 10:15 a.m. This week’s host was scheduled to be Leader Avenue from Ekeko Blends.
