Cement Truck, Pickup Collide on Howard Boulevard

COLUMBUS – Crews were called to an accident, after a cement truck and pickup collided on Howard Boulevard in west Columbus.

Columbus Police reports say a 45-year-old man was driving a cement truck southeast bound on Howard Boulevard, attempting to turn north on 48th Avenue, and a 74-year-old man was heading northwest bound in a 1998 Ford F-150.

The driver of the pickup told police that he noticed the traffic light at the intersection had turned yellow, and he slammed on his brakes, causing the vehicle to slide into the intersection and collide nearly head-on with the cement truck.

The cement truck suffered $4000 in damage, and the Ford suffered approximately $6000 in damage, according to CPD.

The accident occurred at 8:48 a.m. on Thursday morning, and no injuries were reported from the accident.
