CDBG Funds Requested, Land And Conservation Fund Grant Application To Be Heard During Wayne City Council

WAYNE – City Council members in Wayne will hold their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. from the City Hall.

The Wayne City Council will look amend a paragraph in the Tuffern Blue Estates Subdivision Agreement. Language is requested to be changed with another agenda item calling for a Well Permit Application. In 2016, Todd and Cheryl Luedeke had planned to connect to the City water system and use septic systems on their five residential lots. The well request is coming from Mark and Gail McCorkindale.

A public hearing is scheduled for Phase II Year Two Funds in an application for the Community Development Block Grant. Jan Merrill of Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District will be present. The City of Wayne is requesting $475,000 of CDBG Comprehensive Development (CD) funds of which $430,000 will be used for street and storm sewer improvements to Nebraska Street between 2nd and 7th Street. Other funds will go towards general administration ($35,000) and construction management ($10,000). Matching funds will be discussed as the estimated cost of the street project and total costs are nearly $900,000 ($889,940).

More discussion will also take place on the topic of the old swimming pool park for a Land and Conservation Fund Grant Application. A couple specific improvements that were to be considered was funding for a splash pad and renovations to the existing pool bathhouse. The maximum to apply for is $300,000 as the City would have to find the cash to match whatever is applied for.
