WAYNE – A senior living facility in Northeast Nebraska is transitioning management companies along with receiving a new name to open the month of June.

Brookdale Wayne will be changing to Kinship Pointe under Foster Senior Living which began on Monday, June 1.

Foster Senior Living is based out of Springfield, Missouri and has over 50 years of experience of being a senior living operator and management company. Other communities in Nebraska that will assume the new management role are in Kearney, McCook and Seward which were all Brookdale communities.

Kyla Miller is the sales manager at Kinship Pointe and said staff is excited since Foster Senior Living is a family owned and operated company.

“They live by their philosophy of ‘our family taking care of your family,’” said Miller. “We will continue to provide the same excellent care that we have with our independent and assisted living and we’ll have the same friendly faces here at our community.”

Miller has been the sales manager for just over two years and with Brookdale for more than four years. Brookdale Senior Living was the management company prior.

Miller talked about the next steps after June 1.

“So, our name will be changing as of today (Monday, June 1),” Miller added. “We will have new signage out front and everything, all of our positions will remain the same and the same staff that have always been here.”

Kinship Pointe, formerly Brookdale was also awarded the winning submission of National Dance like a Chicken Day by the Wayne Area Economic Development office. Those at Kinship Pointe continue to find new ways to remain involved in the community while not being allowed to have visitors in right now or residents go out.

“When we saw that opportunity, we thought that we’d have a little bit of fun and get some of our residents and staff together to do the chicken dance,” Miller mentioned. “We’ve been getting creative to figure out different ways to bring some joy to our residents right now.”

Kinship Pointe was awarded the Golden Chicken trophy along with ‘chicken’ cupcakes.

Kinship Pointe (formerly Brookdale) is located at 1500 Vintage Hill Drive in Wayne and as of Monday visitors are still not allowed in but the group has started to develop a plan for bringing visitors back.
