Bressler-Fest Offers Free Music In The Park Over Next Month

WAYNE – A series of music will be highlighted at a northeast Nebraska park over the next month.

From Bressler Park in Wayne, Bressler-Fest returns with free music featuring four different bands.

Jill Brodersen, event organizer, said during the fall of 2016 that her son, Ezra Brodersen had a band who wanted to play for some friends and family.

“I realized we had this little stage at Bressler Park and I just never really saw anybody using it,” said Brodersen. “So, I contacted the city and they said anybody can use that stage. So, we had a little concert for our friends and family that fall and ever since then, everybody said we should do this again.”

This year’s music line-up opens with the band Ecko on Sunday, September 11 from 5 – 7 p.m. Brodersen added this cover band from Omaha will play songs you might recognize from the radio.

“Older songs, newer songs,” Brodersen added. “So, if you’ve heard it on the radio, that’s what they’re going to play. They’re a fun energetic band. My son Ezra plays in that band. So, I do have a connection to that band. So, I said ‘hey why don’t you guys come up and play in the park’.”

Other Sunday’s being featured will be Teagan Nissen on September 18; Good Morning Bedlam on September 25 and concluding with the Mark Vyhlidal Orchestra on October 2.

Pack the family up and bring some chairs and blankets as Brodersen mentioned there’s not a bad seat in Bressler Park.

“It’s wonderful to see the kids come and the kids usually wander off over to the playground and run around and play,” Brodersen mentioned. “People walk their dogs through the park. It’s really not a bad place if you want to sit over in the picnic shelter, or if you want to sit up by the playground or if you like to sit a little closer like I do.”

Bressler Park is located at West 9th Street and Lincoln Street in Wayne.

The Wayne City Auditorium will be the rain location if weather arises.
