Boomerfest 2020 – CANCELLED

originally called Elderfest, began a few years back in Wayne

Wayne – It’s been a crazy week of cancellations and last minute adjustments in reaction to the COVID-19 coronavirus scare – and now there’s  another casualty. A major community event will be effected. Boomerfest 2020 in Wayne has been cancelled.

The announcement came in a media email shortly after 6:00pm Friday night from Karissa Hays, one of the event coordinators and Executive Director at Brookdale. Boomerfest, originally called Elderfest, began a few years back in Wayne as both a tribute and service to seniors in the area – typically featuring exhibits, food and entertainment.

The event is designed to attract older citizens in the community. However, the coronavirus is said to have more severe effects on that same population. Thus the precautionary cancellation. The event was scheduled to be held Thursday, April 16th at the Wayne City Auditorium.
