HARTINGTON – For the third straight weekend, the Wayne High speech team took part in a weekend invitational.
The Blue Devils were in Hartington Saturday for the Hartington/Hartington Cedar Catholic Invite.
In the team sweepstakes, Wayne High finished third out of 17 schools. (correction from updated email).
During the “Champs” Finals, Wayne High had a pair of first place finishes from Hannah Vick in Poetry and Christopher Woerdemann in Extemporaneous. The Duet Acting team of Christopher Woerdemann and Dylan Anderson, second; Liam Spieker, runner up in Entertainment; Isaac Davis, fourth in Extemporaneous; Dylan Anderson, sixth in Humorous Prose; Kaden Hopkins, seventh in Humorous Prose and Isaac Davis, seventh in Informative.
From the “Next-In” Finals: Ruben Vega, eighth in Persuasive; Maiah Davis, ninth in both Persuasive and Extemporaneous; Easton Blecke, ninth in Serious Prose; the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Brooklyn Bierbower, Christopher Rutenbeck, Easton Blecke, Kaden Hopkins and Orion Spieker, ninth and Ruben Vega, tenth overall in Extemporaneous.
Congratulations to the following members of the JV Speech Team, who placed at the Hartington/Hartington CC Invitational on Saturday: Maddie Franta, runner-up in Serious Prose; Alondra Vega, sixth in Serious Prose as well as the Duet Acting Team of Ethan Wibben and Jesus Arroyo, sixth.
Wayne High will next compete in the Wayne High/Wayne State College Speech Classic this Saturday, February 6.
