PONCA – Find a love for birds this Valentine’s weekend at Ponca State Park.
Bring the family out to Ponca State Park on Saturday, February 15 to the Birds and Breakfast Weekend. Breakfast will be served in the Riverbluff Room from 8:00 until 10:00 a.m. pre-registration is encouraged. Walk-ins will be charged a small fee.
Into the noon hour, take an Avian Adventure Tour with an expert birder from the Loess Hills Audubon Society. Each group of ten people will explore Ponca State Park and the surrounding areas.
At 1:00, join a naturalist to read “Counting Birds” by Heidi Stemple. Participants will also be creating their own bird faces. Each craft costs one dollar.
Further into the afternoon, guests will be building their own platform bird feeders. The activity starts at 3:00 p.m. and costs four dollars per feeder.
Throughout the day enjoy completing a Bird Bingo Card. Birders must have two bingos to receive a prize.
Binoculars will be available throughout the day.
