Beginning Of 2020 County Items To See Attention Tuesday Morning, Courthouse Restoration Project Update

WAYNE – During the first meeting of 2020, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners will look to appoint several positions and take action on upcoming lodging tax grant applications.

Commissioners will hold their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. from the Wayne County Courthouse courtroom.

A total of 15 positions and boards will need to be appointed as commissioners are represented on most of these.

The commissioners will also designate public notice sites for 2020 and look to re-appoint their Wayne County representative on the Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board.

Several items also seek approval from the Wayne County Convention & Visitors Bureau Committee recommendations. They include the Winside Fire Department Pancake & Omelet Feed on February 9; Carroll Volunteer Fire Department Pancake and Omelet Feed on March 8; Cars-N-Carroll Show and Shine on September 27; WAED advertising in ‘Discover Northeast Nebraska Travel Guide’ and approving Connie Davis as a new member representing the Carroll area.

Updates will then be provided by Wayne County emergency manager, Nic Kemnitz and highway superintendent, Mark Casey.

A bid opening is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. pertaining to a new bottom-dump gravel trailer as the bid specs were issued on December 23, 2019. At 10 a.m., Tradewind Energy will also bring forward an update from the Haystack Wind Project.

Each meeting has also ended with an update from Berggren Architects on the courthouse restoration project. For the third consecutive meeting, county officials will look to take action on an Alpha Change Order (dated for 11/8/2019) resulting in a net decrease of $77,452.24 in masonry allowance funds. The group will also take action on change order number 001 (dated for 11/21/2019) which increases the contract sum $3,727.
