Bank Robbery Accomplice Gets Prison Time
The First Bank of Bancroft

OMAHA – A Bancroft man is headed to federal prison for playing a part in the robbery of a northeast Nebraska bank last year.

Fifty-six year old Lenn Zuhlke was sentenced to 17 months in prison in U.S. District Court on Monday.

Authorities say Zuhlke drove the stolen ATV that Jeffrey Bonneau used to leave the scene of the robbery in April of 2017. Federal investigators say Bonneau robbed the First Bank of Bancroft, taking over $6,700 before fleeing on the ATV left at the scene by Zuhlke.

Prosecutors say the original plan was for Bonneau to drive the ATV to a rendezvous point outside of town, where Zuhlke would drive him away and the two would split the loot.

But Bonneau crashed while fleeing authorities and was taken into custody. All of the money was recovered.

Bonneau had already been sentenced to 30 months behind bars.
