CONCORD – As the Concord Awana Clubs are starting up again, their first event is approaching this weekend.
According to a release, the “Summer Fun Night” is scheduled for Sunday, August 25 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Concord Village Park.
AWANA is a nondenominational organization. The Clubs feature Bible stories, Scripture memorization, games, songs and treats. Participating children earn Bible and activity awards to be displayed on Awana vests or banners. The Concord Evangelical Free Church provides Clubs for ages 4 & 5 (Cubbies), Gr. K-2 (Sparks), Gr. 3-6 (Mission: Discovery of Grace) and Junior High (Trek).
A picnic supper will be provided as well as a bounce house, kiddie train, kickball, basketball, snow-cones along with motorcycle and gator rides this Sunday. Clubbers, families and area residents are welcome to attend and encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
AWANA will officially begin on Wednesday, August 28 with a registration/get acquainted night at the Evangelical Free Church located at 617 Broadway in Concord. Registration will last from 6:45 – 8 p.m. for parents followed by ice cream sundaes. Clubbers will then participate in games from 7 – 7:30 p.m. before handbook time will be held from 7:30 – 8 p.m. followed by ice cream bars.
Then, beginning September 4, Awana Clubs will meet Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The first Club night will feature the “Born to Be Wild” motorcyclists and a picnic supper at 6:00-6:45 p.m. in the church parking lot.
