All Are Welcome To Participate In Virtual Community Christmas Caroling Sunday

WAYNE – As families come together during this holiday season, caroling is on the list to do for you to sing your favorite Christmas songs. With the need of social or physical distancing still to take place, a local pastor has put together an event for all to enjoy.

On Sunday, December 20 tune your radio to The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailynews.com from 7 – 8 p.m. A selection of holiday favorites that everyone can sing along to will last the entire hour for ‘Community Christmas Caroling’.

Nick Baker is the pastor of Carroll United Methodist Church and Wayne First United Methodist Church. Pastor Baker said he noticed a church in Lincoln did Christmas caroling from their vehicles.

“They had a FM transmitter within the church,” said Pastor Baker. “So, they were inviting folks to come and park in the church parking lot. They were going to sing songs; they had song lists and such. Just kind of a neat way for members of the church to come together.”

Community members can sing from home or park their cars in the parking lot of the hospital, Kinship Pointe and Wayne Country View Care and Rehabilitation to sing from inside their car. Another location will be at the intersection of highways 35 and 15, by the big Christmas Tree and remain in their car while enjoying their Christmas caroling.

Lyric sheets are being prepared and will be available online for people to print off or pull up on their computer/mobile device.

Pastor Baker talked about what the goal is.

“Even through we’re in the midst of a global pandemic, economic recession, we’ve even seen fire tornadoes in 2020,” Baker mentioned. “I mean you can’t make some of this stuff up. This is a chance for us to really be together as a community.”

Use the #Communitycaroling and post a photo or a brief video on social media.
