Ag Task Force Welcomes Community During Seminar

WAYNE – During a morning break between speakers, those who were attending the 11th annual Ag Outlook Seminar & Farmer Appreciation Lunch joined with other community members for a weekly event.

Friday morning Chamber Coffee took place from the Wayne Fire Hall (510 Tomar Drive) on December 7. The event was hosted by the Ag Task Force.

Members of the Ag Task Force Committee always like to include students as Wayne FFA students also presented a sample of Parliamentary Procedure. A precision Ag trailer from Northeast Community College is a grant funded project that is new, according to Irene Fletcher Mock who is the Assistant Director of Wayne Area Economic Development.

“They told us about this new demonstration trailer and offered to bring it over,” Fletcher added. “We thought it was a good fit for our pram to see the demonstration and a good chance for their students to participate in our Ag Seminar as well.”

A precision Ag demonstration was also showcased Friday.

Those who were presenting Friday included Marty Marx (NRCS) talking about cover crop, Kyla Habrock (Nebraska Pork Producers Association) talking about handing the leadership baton to the next generation and Doug Simon (TEDRAS) talking about grain marketing and outlooks for the future.

Longtime Ag Task Force member, Doug Temme was the MC for the day who presented over lunch from his recent trip to Japan.

Ag Task Force meets, generally on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:45 a.m. at Tacos & More.

“It’s made up of some area farmers, representative from area Ag businesses and extension,” Fletcher Mock. “Anyone who has an interest in Ag in the community.”
