Accumulating Snow, Ice Expected Today During Winter Weather Advisory

WAYNE – With most of the region under the winter weather advisory through the evening, the message of the day is higher snow amounts have shifted south and east.

According to a release from the National Weather Service-Omaha Center, accumulating snow and freezing drizzle is expected in southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa. The freezing drizzle will turn into snow this afternoon as travel impacts are expected, especially for the evening commute.

The heaviest snow is expected from far southeast Nebraska into Central Iowa. For freezing drizzle, the greatest accumulations are expected in central/southern Nebraska. Interstates 80 and 29 will be impacted.

Snow will taper off around 10 a.m.

Totals for northeast Nebraska are up to a tenth of an inch of ice and 1-2 inches of snow.
