AAA Reminds Drivers To Not Get Distracted While On The Road, With COVID-19 Restrictions Loosening

BURNSVILLE, MN – The Auto Club Group, AAA, wants to remind motorists to avoid distracted driving. Distracted driving resulted in 3,142 deaths in the United States in 2019. That was up 10 percent compared to the year prior.

The top three driver distractions are mobile phone use, in-vehicle technology, and passengers. AAA offers up tips to prevent you from becoming apart of the statistic.

Put your phone away to prevent the temptation. If navigation is being used, have that setup before driving. Pull over safely if you absolutely must answer a text or call. Allow your passengers to answer texts, calls, or help with navigation.

Being a good passenger includes calling out the driver if you notice they are distracted. On the contrary, do not be the distraction. If you know someone is driving, do not bombard them with messages or calls.

Activating do not disturb while driving will silence all notifications. Just like drivers, cyclists and pedestrians should avoid glaring at their smartphones.
