WAYNE – Community members surrounded a drive-thru location just off seventh street Friday morning during a weekly event put on by the Wayne Area Economic Development office.
Just off the corner of Dearborn St. and 7th St., 527 Brewhouse hosted Chamber Coffee.
Owners, Marcus Janssen and Michelle Roccio welcomed all by introducing more what they have to offer. Both were excited about hosting Chamber Coffee.
“Always exciting to have business owners come and see your business and see what you can get,” said Janssen. “Spark a little interest or at least gain a little bit of knowledge of what you do on a day-to-day basis.”
“Because it is always fun to have people come in and see all the fun things that we’re doing here in the Brewhouse,” Roccio added. “It gives our baristas a chance to show off some of the work that they do every day.”
527 Brewhouse is open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday.
From sandwiches to coffees, smoothies and their pastries, the Brewhouse offers a wide variety of options.
A handful of Wayne State College volleyball players make up the barista staff along with manger Tarrin Beller. Once the second week of August rolls out, they’ll be full staff of 15 which is up from last year’s 11 employees.
Jaci Brahmer didn’t have barista knowledge before working at the Brewhouse but both her friends during their freshman year worked at Miss Molly’s at the time.
“I like love coffee, so I always came and got coffee and hung out at the hut,” Brahmer mentioned. “Then Marcus and Michelle bought it and they noticed that I was always around and they were like ‘you should just work here’ and I was like ‘Okay!’.”
