50th Annual Ag Banquet Quickly Approaching

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Area Chamber Agribusiness Committee is celebrating a milestone 50th Annual Rural Recognition Banquet.

The event first began in 1968 as the 4-H Leaders Recognition Banquet, and this year’s event will be held on March 27th at 6:30 p.m. at Ag Park, says a press release.

CEO of the National Pork Producers Council Neil Dierks will be the keynote speaker for the event, and both Lt. Governor Mike Foley and Nebraska Ag Director Steve Wellman will be attending and presenting, says a press release.

“The Committee is planning several special historical aspects to the celebration, recognizing 50 years of partnership between the Columbus business community and agriculture.  There will be historical displays and video presentations from past award-winners,” says the Chamber.

The Chamber says sponsorships from businessess after covered the complimentary tickets for current ag producers, and provide meals for the past honorees. The sponsorships also pay for scholarship money at CCC-Columbus; ag programs. The Scholarships will be recognized at the banquet for the following; Lysette Anderson, Grant Classen, Kyle Grotelueschen, and Lyle Oppliger.

Tickets are available for $25 at the Chamber.
