WAYNE – As interior construction phases are being finalized at a newly constructed bank in Wayne, State Nebraska Bank & Trust has opened their Campus Branch.
According to a release from State Nebraska Bank & Trust the new Campus Branch is located in the 14,000-square-foot SNBuilding across from Wayne State College.
Matthew Ley is the CEO of State Nebraska Bank & Trust. Ley said they started by working with local contractors, northeast Nebraska, the state of Nebraska, midwest then nationally.
“We wanted to put as much of this investment back into our community as possible,” said Ley. “It was a conglomerate effort for everybody and it turned out great. We still have a few things that we’re working out, but for the most part it is open for business.”
Along with a walk-in lobby, 24-hour ATM and drive-thru lanes at the Campus Branch, there is also a basketball/pickleball court for community use and shared office spaces for lease on the second floor. State National Insurance Company currently occupies a main floor office while Beck Ag will fill an upstairs office.
Ashley Rewinkel, has been with State Nebraska Bank & Trust for seven years and added the gym has been talked about highly.
“We’re going to offer pickleball, basketball and then we’ll have a drop-down projector,” Rewinkel added. “So, people in the community, doesn’t have to be a customer, can rent out a time slot to come in and use the gym.”
There are liability waivers as those interested in using the gym will need to contact Rewinkel at the Campus Branch. Earlier this year Rewinkel was promoted to Branch Manager and Personal Banker at the new Campus Branch.

The SNBulding was designed by Roy Ley with Hoke Ley, an architecture and interior design firm in Lawrence, Kansas. Roy is the brother of Matt and designer of the Main Branch at 2nd and Main Street in Wayne.
Founded in 1892, State Nebraska Bank & Trust is the only bank locally owned in Wayne, run by the same family for five generations. Ley mentioned they look forward in making this big investment into the community.
“We want to support them to and being right catty-corner to campus (WSC) is big deal for us,” Ley mentioned. “Hopefully people understand that that’s what we’re trying to do. We’re just trying to make our community be progressive and grow and get stronger every year.”
