WAED Congeniality Award Nominees Being Accepted Through Tuesday, Learning Opportunity For Businesses Impacted By COVID-19 Offered Thursday

WAYNE – Wayne Ambassadors with Wayne Area Economic Development are now accepting nominations for a 2020 congeniality award.

According to a release from WAED, the nominations are due by Tuesday, July 28.

An employer can’t nominate his or her employee and a nominee may not be a past honoree. The Wayne Ambassadors meet on the fourth Wednesday of January, April, July and October to vote on nominations for the congeniality award. These nominations are approved and submitted by the Congeniality Committee at their regular meeting.

Ambassadors will meet at noon during their Third Quarter meeting in the North Meeting Room of the City Auditorium on Wednesday, July 29.

If not selected for the award, nominees will be automatically re-nominated unless withdrawn for one more quarter.

The person submitting the nomination will have to fill out the nominee’s name, who they work for and why do they deserve this recognition.

Staff with WAED also provided information about an upcoming learning opportunity for business owners that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Entitled “Expecting the Unexpected: Recovering from a Pandemic”, the Weibling Entrepreneurship Clinic at the University of Nebraska College of Law will explore legal issues businesses face as they look to reopen, share resources to help business owners recover from the current pandemic and outline how businesses can plan ahead for these sorts of societal disasters.

The free online program is scheduled for noon on Thursday, July 30.

Those who are interested in attending, should register and submit any questions they have for the speakers at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6JBHRCX. They will provide video conference information to attendees as the date approaches.
