WAYNE – Two contested local races made up the Nebraska Primary in Wayne County along with four propositions.
Voting closed at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and of the 5,260 registered voters in Wayne County, 2,401 (45.65%) casted a ballot for the unofficial results.
The Wayne County Canvassing Board will convene on Thursday, May 12 at 1:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the courthouse to canvass the results of the 2022 Primary Election Results.
Wayne County Republican results favored Lisa Lindsay (1,072) over Tammy Paustian (877).
The top two advanced in the Wayne City Council Ward 1 race being Clayton W. Bratcher (76) and Karen Granberg (65) while Chad Sebade received 47 votes.
Wayne Proposition A: 686 For; 274 Against (passed)
- Authorizing the continuation of the existing one percent (1.0%) in the City of Wayne local sales and use tax under such terms and conditions
Wayne Proposition B: 662 For; 289 Against (passed)
- Continuation and amendment of such Economic Development Program
Wayne Proposition C: 656 For; 301 Against (passed)
- Authorizing the continuation of the existing one-half of one percent (0.50%) in the City of Wayne local sales and use tax under such terms and conditions
Wayne Proposition D: 476 For; 479 Against (failed by three votes)
- Authorizing an increase of one half of one percent (0.50%) in the City of Wayne’s local sales and use tax under such terms and conditions
Also, the Hoskins Keno ballot for such lottery passed (55 – Yes)/(27 – No).
Also, for Wakefield Mayor James Lehmkuhl (164) and Steven Henry Greve (114) will advance to the general election receiving the top two votes. Jason C. Jensen received (15) from Dixon County voters and some from Wayne County.
