Chicken Show Previewed During Chamber Coffee Friday Morning

 

WAYNE – Community members packed the 200-block alley along Main Street as the 39th annual Wayne Chicken Show is gearing up for a weekend full of activities and events.

Friday morning Chamber Coffee was co-hosted by the Wayne Chicken Show Committee and Huskerland Communications (US Cellular).

Katie Gerdes, store manager said they’re ready for anyone who walks in the store.

“We can help them get a new device and any accessories and Bluetooth speakers; we have all of that,” said Gerdes. “We also have exceptional customer service so if they ever have any issues or questions on their phones, we can help them as well.”

Along with Gerdes, a pair of sales associates work at Huskerland Communications.

Friday evening events will kickoff with the ‘World’s Largest Chicken Dance’ at 2nd & Main starting at 6 p.m. On stage entertainment from 3rd & Main will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the national anthem followed by the Wayne Dance Company and Twin Rivers Taekwondo showcasing their talents.

The cement chicken (large) auction will be held at 7 p.m.; saucy hot wing eating contest at 8 p.m. and free entertainment from Many Moccasins Dance Troupe closing out Friday, July 12 on stage. The ‘Light up the Sky Fireworks’ are scheduled for 10 p.m. from the Summer Sports Complex.

Saturday will begin with the parade at 9:30 a.m. and moving into afternoon activities at Bressler Park beginning at noon and Sunday will conclude the 39th annual Chicken Show from 2nd & Main during the Crowing Motors Car Show and Last Cluck Poker Run.

Join the Wayne Community Theatre as they host the next Friday morning Chamber Coffee on July 19 at 10 a.m. The event will be held in the WSC Black Box Theatre on the Wayne State College campus.
