Dodge County authorities are searching for two men in connection with the attempted theft of an ATM at a North Bend bank.

The attempted theft occurred about 4 a.m. Monday at the Platte Valley Bank, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said.

Two men pulled the ATM out of the bank building using a towrope attached to a pickup truck, officials said. The ATM, which has 24-hour access, is inside the bank near U.S. Highway 30.

The Sheriff’s Office said the men, who were wearing hooded sweatshirts pulled tightly around their faces, were unable to load the ATM into the pickup and left it outside the bank. No money was missing, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The men fled in a dark blue or black Chevrolet pickup.

The attempted theft remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call 402-727-2700. A message also can be left on the Facebook page of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

Highway 30 west of Nebraska Highway 79 was closed near North Bend for 3½ hours while authorities investigated the case, the Sheriff’s Office said.
