14 year-old survives crash; Cited for DWI

STANTON — A one vehicle accident sent a 14 year-old driver to the hospital early this morning.

According to Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger, just after 1:30 AM Sunday a SUV driven by the teenager was traveling north on 560th Avenue, 1 mile east of Woodland Park, at a high rate of speed. Police say he lost control and entered the ditch went through a fence into a field striking several trees.

The male was taken by Hoskins/Woodland Park Rescue to Faith Regional Health Services.

He was also cited on charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Minor in Possession/Consumption of Alcohol and Misuse of a School Permit.

It was unclear if seatbelts were in use at the time.
