Funeral services for Donald D. Hansen age 87 of Wayne will be held on Thursday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. He passed away Monday at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.

Visitation: Wednesday 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family present at Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

     Donald Duane Hansen was born April 14, 1924, at Wisner to Peter and Lillian (Schulz) Hansen.  He attended District 40 near Wisner and graduated from Wisner High School in 1941.  Don served in the United States Marines as a Private First Class from May 11, 1944 until May 11, 1946 in Okinawa and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.  Donald married Irene Engelbart June 26, 1951, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Creston.  The couple farmed in Wayne and Cuming Counties from 1951 to 1990.  They moved into Wayne in 1977.  Donald was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, had served on the church council, and a lifetime member of the Wisner V.F.W. and Wayne V.F.W.  
     Donald is survived by his wife, Irene; their children, Timothy (Mary) Hansen of Wisner, Sheryl and (Fred) Kalin of Coleridge, and Bonnie and (Charles) Starkey of Norfolk; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,  Thomas Hansen (fiancé, Sandra Rivera), and her son, Anthony of Wayne, Melissa (Rob) Engel, Erin and Ryan of Randolph, Trisha (Timothy) Peters of Wisner, Jessica (John) Nelson, Jed and Jacy of Maskell, Amy (Jeff) Thelen of Norfolk, Dale (Brooke) Hansen of Wayne, Kevin Starkey of Norfolk, and Heather Starkey of Norfolk; brothers, Forrest Hansen of Wisner and Larry (Lorraine) Hansen of Norfolk; nieces and nephews.
     Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dale, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
     Donald’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness and invites you to lunch in the church fellowship hall following the committal service.
