OMAHA(AP)-- Nebraska's Tom Osborne will go to the Big Ten athletic director's meetings next month with a sense of
humility that would seem to belie his stature as one of the giants in college football history. The administrators meet Aug. 2-3 in Chicago, where divisional alignment and a possible conference championship football game will be among the issues discussed. Osborne said in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Monday that
he'll express his opinion at the meetings if asked. Big Ten spokesman Scott Chipman said Osborne is invited to all conference business meetings in advance of Nebraska becoming an active member on July 1, 2011. Chipman said Osborne would be part of all discussions.
BO IN TEXAS FOR BIG 12 MEDIA DAYS
IRVING(AP)-- Nebraska coach Bo Pelini insists he and his team are focused solely on the upcoming season in the Big 12 and not even thinking about their jump to the Big Ten next season. They're certainly going to be reminded about it when they go on the road. Pelini refuses to use the notion of going out on top as a rallying cry. He says football is emotional enough. The Cornhuskers came within a second of winning the Big 12 championship last season. They won their bowl game and were ranked 14th in the final poll.
HUSKERS TO THE BAHAMAS
LINCOLN(AP)-- Nebraska coach Doc Sadler says his men's basketball team will get some much-needed work when it plays four games during an eight-day trip to the Bahamas next month. The Cornhuskers will begin practicing next Monday for games against the four club teams they'll face on the trip, which starts Aug. 13. Sadler said the trip comes at a great time and that it should help the team improve as it prepares for next season. Nebraska finished 15-18 overall last season and in last place in the Big 12 with a 2-14 record. The Huskers return two full-time starters in point guard Lance Jeter and center Jorge Brian Diaz.
