Roads Slick Today, No Winter Concert in Wayne, WSC Multicultural Center Hosts Speaker on Zambia
Posted: 08 February, 2010
Roads across Northeast Nebraska are quite slick this morning and motorists are urged to use extreme caution. A combination of new
accumulation over the weekend and bit of melting Sunday has created an iced-over glaze on all highways and city streets. The Nebraska State Patrol says State roads department officials are out this morning with de-icing trucks to help make the morning commute safer. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution and allow plenty of extra time to get to their destination while allowing a good distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
No Winter Concert in Wayne
The extended series of no-school days, late starts, and other weather-related problems has led to the cancellation of the Wayne Community Schools winter concert on Thursday night. Teachers say the students just haven't had adequate time to prepare for the concert with all the missed school. The concert will not be rescheduled.
WSC Multicultural Center Hosts Speaker on Zambia
The Wayne State College Multicultural Center will host Daceia Malone, facilitator for EMQ Families First, as a speaker on her service learning project in Zambia, South Africa. The event is this afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Frey Conference Suite of the Student Center on campus. There is no admission charge. Approximately 20 San Jose State University students participated with Malone during a service learning project to volunteer, counsel, teach and work with South African youth to gain first-hand experience working with another culture.
