Melissa Rogers, 41, of Lincoln, passed away December 15, 2017, filled with love from her family and friends.

Melissa was born in Wayne, Nebraska on June 13, 1976 to Rod and Lorie (Heithold) Haglund of rural Wakefield, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield and graduated high school from Wakefield Community Schools. She attended college at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where she met the love of her life Gene Rogers of Omaha, Nebraska. Gene and Melissa married on June 20, 1996. They made Lincoln their home and had two children Ben (13) and Sarah (9).
Melissa found her love of flowers while working in the floral shop at Super Saver. She would often surprise friends and family with bouquets from her garden. If you visited her, you would rarely leave her home without a bouquet of flowers. Melissa left Super Saver to become the human resource coordinator at Friendship Home. She deeply believed in the mission of Friendship Home and advocated for those that could not advocate for themselves. Throughout her life, she felt privileged to meet some of the most caring people and communities on this planet. She made deep connections and protected those relationships with love and kindness.
She is survived by her husband; Gene Rogers, of Lincoln, parents; Rod and Lorie Haglund, of Wakefield, NE, son; Benjamin Rogers, daughter; Sarah Rogers, sister; Jenny (Rodney) Greve, Wayne, NE, brother; Erik (Traci) Haglund, Wakefield, NE, and numerous nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents; Norman and Miriam Haglund, Edmond and LaVerne Heithold, and cousin; Matthew Jensen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, (12-19-17) at the Firefighters Reception Hall, 241 Victory Lane, Lincoln.
