Margaret Kay, age 81, of Wayne

Funeral services for Margaret Kay, age 81, of Wayne will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne on Monday 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with family present. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. She passed away Friday at Providence Medical Center in Wayne. Memorials may be directed to the Kay Family for later designation.
Margaret Wilhelmina Kay was born September 30, 1935, on a farm near Winside in Wayne County to Ferdinand and Meta (Koepke) Voss. She attended country school and graduated from the old Winside High School in 1954. Margaret married Donald Kay June 26, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wayne, the second couple married in that church. They farmed all of their married life southeast of Wayne until moving into Wayne in 2006. Margaret worked at the Wakefield Care Center and the Feed Bunk restaurant in Wakefield for 12 years. The couple renewed their wedding vows for their 60th wedding anniversary in June of 2015. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and Ladies Auxiliary in Wayne.

Margaret is survived by her children, Rick Kay of Wakefield, Denise (Roger) Fredrickson of Wayne, Duane “Butch” (Jodi) Kay of Wayne, and Mary Ann (Curtis) Roberts of Wakefield; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Ann (Marvin) Andersen of Hoskins; sisters-in-law, Beverly Voss of Winside, Lavila Voss of Pierce, and nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2015; siblings, Lorraine (Wayne) Denklau, Leo Voss, Howard (Billie) Voss, Loretta Voss, William Voss, Marvin Voss, and George Voss; and sister-in-law, Marcelline (Leigh) Johnson.
