Mabel V. Johnson, age 101, of Laurel

Funeral Services for Mabel V. Johnson age 101, of Laurel will be held at the Evangelical Free Church in Concord on Wednesday March 29th 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Evangelical Free Church in Concord on Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
A Prayer Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Concord Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Family for later designation. She passed away Monday at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Laurel. 
 
Mabel Virginia Johnson was born October 13, 1915, in Omaha, NE to Carl and Ellen (Persson) Johnson. Growing up, she also lived in Kost, MN and later Laurel, NE graduating from Laurel High School in 1934. Mabel married Lester Forsberg on September 12, 1937, at the Concord Evangelical Free Church. The couple farmed near Concord. To this union, 2 sons were born, Dennis and Arne. Following Lester’s death, 8 days after Arne’s birth, Mabel continued to live and work in the Concord and Wayne areas, and later moved to Pasadena, California to be near her mother and a sister. While there, she worked at the Avon Company and later as a seamstress. Mabel married Henry Johnson on August 31, 1951, in Sioux City, IA. The couple farmed near Concord. Mabel moved into Laurel in 1987. At age 88, she moved to the Laurel Elderly Housing in 2004, and later to the Hillcrest Care Center/Assisted Living in 2011. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She also loved her flowers, reading, taking care of her family, and she loved her coffee. Mabel was a member of the Concord Evangelical Free Church for 82 years, where she served in many aspects of the church.
    Mabel is survived by her sons: Dennis (Donna) Forsberg of Laurel and Arne (Janice) Forsberg of Sedro-Woolley, WA; 4 grandchildren, Mike (Kim) Forsberg of Laurel, Craig Forsberg of Norfolk, Becky Forsberg of Bennington, and Nicole (Louis) LaFranchise of Lake Oswego, OR; 7 great-grandchildren, Mason, Makayla, Megan, Miles Forsberg, Blake Forsberg, Kendall Anderson and Perry LaFranchise; nieces & nephews.   
    Mabel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester in 1944, and husband, Henry in 1985; 2 brothers, Walter (Martha) Johnson and Lloyd (Gladys) Johnson; and 2 sisters, Martha (Harry) Smith and Agnes (Joseph) Forsberg.
