Funeral services for Debra Anderson, age 53, of Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Wayne will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family present.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Memorials may be directed to the Anderson family for later designation. She passed away Saturday at Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Debra Lynn Anderson, age 53, was born March 19, 1963, in Wakefield to Darrel and Doris (Hammer) Gilliland. She was the first born of their four children and was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. Debra and John, both from Wayne are 1981 graduates from Wayne High School. Debra married John Anderson on June 25, 1983, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. They lived in Rapid City, SD at Ellsworth Air Force Base where their four children were born. They moved to Minot Air Force Base, ND in 1995. In 2003, they moved to Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. On February 14, 2006, Debra received a kidney transplant from her son, Daniel in Norfolk, VA. They returned to Rapid City, SD where John retired from the Air Force after 30 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and spending time in the sun. Debra’s grandchildren meant the world to her.
Debra is survived by her husband, John; their children and families, Megan (Phillip) Herfendal and children, Brynn and Madisyn of Colorado Springs, CO, Amanda (Joseph) Anders, Lincoln and Jensen of Las Vegas, NV, Jacob Anderson of Lincoln, and Daniel Anderson of Dickinson, ND; parents, Darrel and Doris Gilliland of Wayne; parents-in-law, Albert and Mary Jo Anderson of Wayne; sister, Shelley (Joel) Jorgensen of Wayne; brothers, Terry (Shelley) Gilliland of Wayne and Rod (Linda) Gilliland of Wakefield; nieces and nephews.
Debra was preceded in death by her grandparents.
