Funeral Services for Donna Liska, age 78, of Wayne will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne on Friday, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with family present.  Eastern Star Service Friday at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Memorials may be directed to the Wayne Public Library or Heifer International.  She passed away Wednesday at her home in Wayne. Arrangements with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
 
Donna Elizabeth (Walter) Liska was born February 19, 1939 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Senator W. Eldon and Myrtle (Bein) Walter. She graduated from Beaman, Iowa High School in 1957 and Iowa State University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Nutrition. She was a member of Phi Upsilon, Omicron Home Economics Honorary, and Delta Zeta social sorority. Donna married Dr. Joseph Jay Liska July 30, 1961 at the First United Methodist Episcopal Church in Beaman, Iowa. After their marriage, they moved to Arlington, Nebraska where Jay became a partner in the Cady, Otto and Liska Veterinary Clinic. Donna was a bookkeeper and assistant dietician at the Dodge County Community Hospital in Fremont, Nebraska. After Donna and Jay moved to Wayne in 1968, she worked as a JCPenney Kitchen Consultant, Amana Microwave Home Economist, County Fair Judge, co-manager of The Oaks Retirement Community, and was a receptionist for Keith Jech Insurance Agency. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary, P.E.O. Chapter AZ, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Blue Birds Across Nebraska. She was active in several genealogy societies and was a 4-H Leader and Den Leader for Cub Scouts. Donna served on the Nebraska Commission for the Status of Women and was instrumental with Jay in starting the Blue Devil Boosters in Wayne. Her loves included cooking, quilting, traveling, gardening, Bible studies, and genealogy, but the biggest loves of her life were her family and God.
Donna is survived by her children and grandchildren, Anne Liska (Shanda and Megan Lambert), Robert “Bob” (Stephanie) Liska (Kristin, Kendra, and Robert Joseph “RJ”) all of Wayne; William “Bill” (Sara) Liska (Nicole, Jacob, Jack, Joshua, Miah) of Independence, MN; brothers-in-law, Dr. Kenneth (Jan) Liska of Wayne and Dr. William (Denise) Liska of Sugarland, TX; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay, in 1992; parents-in-law, Alex and Stella Liska; sister, Ardis McMechan and brother-in-law James McMechan.
