Funeral services for Leslie Sherman, age 85, of Laurel will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Laurel on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Laurel on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with family present. Interment will be at the Laurel Cemetery. Memorials may be directed

to the Sherman family for later designation. He passed away Friday, February 3rdth, at a Sioux City Hospital. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Laurel.
Leslie Darrell Sherman was born May 30, 1931, on a farm in Dixon County to Don and Bessie (Harness) Sherman. He attended country school in Dixon County. Les married Marilyn Schultz January 31, 1954, at Daily Hall. Over the years, the couple farmed near Vermilion and Laurel. The couple retired and moved into Laurel. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Laurel and the Laurel Senior Citizens Center where he much enjoyed shooting pool and fellowship. Les enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, and putting together puzzles.
Leslie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; their children, Scott Sherman of Sioux City, IA, Mark (Colleen) Sherman of Laurel, Debra Wiemers (Dean Peterson) of Vermillion, SD, and Lori (Matthew) Kacmarynski of Lennox, SD; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Sherman of Tucson, AZ, Don (Judy) Sherman of Wayne; sister, Betty Stark of Ponca; brother-in-law, Bob Schultz of Manhattan, KS; nieces and nephews.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; twin infant children; and his parents-in-law.
